Vittorio Dassi furniture is iconic in both design and beauty. This 1950's sideboard is a breathtaking showstopper. We are in love with this piece, it exudes mid-century glamour at the high end of the market. The body of the sideboard has a figurative, Burr, book matched Teak Veneer on its 6 drawers. The glow of the wood sings and is framed in ebonised wood to add contrast. Each drawer is accessorised with a lovely brass unusual round drop handle. The ends of the body have teak panels that are rounded at the edges to give a well designed and thoughtful finish.
Vittorio Dassi was renowned for his attention to detail, especially for often using little touches such as rounded edges on his pieces. The Teak Legs descend and bend forwards, almost in animal form. The feet are capped with brass mimicking a hoof. The body is topped with tortoiseshell glass that really ups the glamour. Perched on top is a very 50's shape mirror that has silver fan metal work details at the corners and on each side of the mirror.
If you like Mid-Century and want to invest in your furniture, then Vitorrio Dassi is certainly a good start. The attention to small details and the quality of the finish were extremely important in his production.
This Side board is a fabulous find, it would look great in any setting and will certainly have you spending hours of time admiring it.
